SERVPRO assesses the damage's extent, identifies potential sources of water impairment in your home, and advises on the best approaches toward efficient repairs. Using specialized techniques and equipment, we minimize additional damages while restoring your home to its preloss state.

Water removal is crucial after a water leak. Even though some leaks may not leave substantial water in the affected areas, you might end up with wet items and structural components. SERVPRO responds rapidly to remove moisture from wet materials, preventing microbial growth.

Water damage can deteriorate personal belongings, including electronics, furniture, documents, and other sentimental items. We can salvage these items by quickly removing the water, increasing the chances of effective restoration. Valuable resources to facilitate water removal

Characteristics Influencing Water Damage Restoration in Telluride Homes

SERVPRO Responds Promptly to Telluride Water Repair Emergencies

Water leaks in a property are dynamic events, so you might resolve them quickly, or they can evolve into stubborn issues that take time and accumulate huge costs. Although water damage restoration requires you to take control and resolve pressing issues, some aspects, such as the physical properties of various materials, may be beyond your control.

Being in control is only one aspect necessary in facilitating successful water damage restoration at your Telluride property. Among the other crucial things is identifying and understanding how uncontrollable issues affect restoration. SERVPRO technicians adapt the response to overcome such challenges.

Characteristics in materials affecting restoration

One of the main tasks necessary when restoring a water-damaged property is extracting the moisture that soaks into materials. The ease at which you can accomplish the extraction depends on the permeance factor of the affected materials. The permeance level in a material determines the ease at which vapor flows through the material. Materials with high permeance are easily saturated but allow fast extraction and drying. You need the right tools, like extractors and dehumidifiers.

Moisture recirculation

It is challenging to complete restoration if the water you remove recirculates back into the property. Turning off mains and sealing leaks are good ways to prevent moisture from re-entering the property. However, some materials can hamper your efforts if they have hygroscopic properties. Hygroscopy refers to the tendency of a material to absorb and hold moisture from the air. Many materials have varying degrees of hygroscopy, including carpets, gypsum, and upholstery. Our SERVPRO crews set up dehumidifiers within the property immediately after we start the restoration, limiting humidity levels in the air.

Vapor barriers block moisture from escaping into the air from underlying materials. These vapor barriers may include plastic sheets, gloss or semi-gloss paint, and half-inch plywood. Our SERVPRO teams can take different actions to help you defeat vapor barriers and complete drying.

Ways to dry materials covered by vapor barriers

  • Stripping off surfaces
  • Perforating the outside layer
  • Circulating dry air behind the vapor barrier

What Happens Once Water Removal Technicians Arrive?

SERVPRO has perfected the assessment and planning process for all cleanup and restoration projects. We formulate a working plan for extraction, drying, and dehumidification to begin immediately.

Our Green Fleet of vehicles is always stocked with the latest water removal equipment, specialized drying tools, and a full selection of EPA-registered cleaning agents and deodorizers. We have plenty of equipment stored in our warehouse for large-scale emergencies and commercial projects. This allows us to scale each project as needed with all the necessary gear.

Handling Relative Humidity is Crucial with All Water Restorations

After standing water gets pulled up with gas-powered pumps, submersible pumps, or truck-mounted extractors, special attention gets paid to moisture levels throughout the impacted areas. Our drying dehumidification equipment works to pull moisture from the air so that we can keep damage from settling into your building materials and other contents.

  • Desiccant dehumidifiers and centrifugal air movers remove residual moisture in tight spaces and building materials.
  • Our crew constantly monitors progress using moisture detection tools like sensors, meters, and thermal imaging.
  • We may also increase airflow across walls, around furnishings, and over the flooring to speed up the evaporation process.

SERVPRO is customer-focused, taking the time to explain each step along the way throughout your water damage cleanup and restoration project. We are informative, but we also go the extra mile to work with your insurance agent to help facilitate your claim!

Things to Manipulate During Water Mitigation in Montrose Houses

SERVPRO Optimizes Water Restoration Processes in Montrose

Water mitigation is a general term for the activities done after an incident causes significant moisture accumulation inside a property. Mitigation is an adaptive process that responds to the conditions created by the incident. However, there are many common concepts used during interventions after water intrusion.

Starting water mitigation at your Montrose property from an informed perspective would likely produce better outcomes. That is one of the reasons hiring a professional team like SERVPRO helps because of the wealth of knowledge gathered over time as we resolve various incidents. Knowing the things we have to manipulate to facilitate mitigation ensures we are well-equipped from the beginning.

Necessary Manipulations during Restoration

  • Opening up or containing structures
  • Temperature regulation
  • Air supply
  • Content manipulation

Once released, water readily moves around the property, reaching open or concealed areas. Accessing all the traces can require elaborate processes, including opening up enclosed spaces such as walls, cabinets, and subfloor areas. Our SERVPRO technicians are prepared with drills, pry bars, and utility knives to facilitate any demolition task. Creating new enclosures or sealing openings is necessary in other cases, especially drying. We use plastic sheets and sturdy mediums such as PVC pipes to create temporary isolation or drying chambers.

How Air and Temperature Affect Restoration

Most of the water that breaches your property is absorbed into materials. Unlike the stagnating water, which workers can easily scoop with extraction tools, the absorbed moisture is much harder to address. Manipulating the air and temperature inside the home is essential for drying wet areas. Our crews are furnished with different equipment, including air movers, dehumidifiers, and heaters, to facilitate that.

Necessary Actions to Facilitate Drying

  • Moving air columns improves evaporation
  • Extracting the moisture trapped in the air
  • Heating the air

Wet materials can develop physical changes such as warping, staining, or mold if left unattended long. Appropriate mitigation should address moisture fast. Supplying a constant flow of air over wet areas improves the evaporation rate. Our SERVPRO technicians set up several air mover units and suitably angle them to ensure direct contact between moving air and wet materials. Dehumidifiers help extract moisture from humid air, while heating improves the capacity of air to hold vapor.

SERVPRO of Montrose / Telluride can adapt water mitigation to deliver the best restoration outcomes. We’re Faster To Any Size Disaster. (970) 478-1659.

Drying Wall Cavities Is Vital After A Water Damage Event In Your Delta Home

7/17/2022 (Permalink)

a kitchen with a puddle of water covering the tile floor Water damage is not just on the surface. SERVPRO has equipment to assess where the excess water still remains. Call right away for best results.

How We Dry Wall Cavities After Damage in Delta Homes

Among the most hazardous results of DIY drying and restoration of Delta homes following a water loss is inadequate moisture removal and cleaning. Structural cavities are often the most consistently overlooked and under kept areas of the house, and lingering moisture in these areas can often lead to hazardous secondary effects like mold growth. We have sophisticated tools to not only identify these potential moisture pockets in the cavities but the appropriate tools to address these threats as they get discovered.

The space between walls is ideal for hiding electrical conduit, plumbing, and insulation, but they can also be the origin of water damage in Delta residences. Many homeowners seeking to recover these damages themselves might only address the dampness and water they can see outside of these wall spaces to avoid cutting out portions of drywall. Without correcting the problem that caused the water damage or ensuring that the structural cavity is dry, you can continue to battle water losses in the immediate future.

Moisture content meters with probes are a reliable tool to identify the spread and migration of saturation through the drywall. As water losses tend to collect along the flooring level of a room, the same occurs in wall cavities and moisture-wicking results starting at the base of drywall up. Our moisture content probes can pinpoint how far this moisture has moved within the sheetrock to establish a dryline in case flood cuts must get made.

Insulation vacuums can help to remove the damp material from the cavity and help to better dry out the rest of the space by providing better access with our desiccant dehumidifiers and fans. Low profile air movers can help to force heated air into these structural cavities and force moisture out of drywall and framing.

Many homeowners struggle to thoroughly dry out damaged areas of their home after a water loss incident. With our experience and advanced tools, you can count on our SERVPRO of Montrose / Telluride team to help. Give us a call whenever a water emergency occurs at (970) 478-0619.

They can help us understand the situation better, recommend treatments, and identify hidden sources of the problem.

Water Removal

Whether it is a large flood or a small leak affecting your home, one of our first concerns is to get the water out as soon as possible. If we need to extract volumes of standing water, we use a combination of portable and truck-mounted extractors to pump it out fast. When the area is soaked and wet but not flooded, we can skip the extractors and move on straight to our air mover systems that create powerful wind currents in your home to remove any excess moisture from surfaces and materials. Dehumidifiers work with the air movers to capture and remove the humidity from the interior air space.

Water Damage Restoration In Montrose

Toilet with Money in it Save Money After a Bathroom Leak and Call SERVPRO to Mitigate Water Damage

Montrose Bathrooms Require a Stringent Post Water Leak Inspection and Cleanup

Water is a most destructive force, more damaging to homes than any other. It does not matter how the water entered your house or how extensive the problem appears at first glance. The quicker the water damage abatement, the more successful the restoration. SERVPRO responds fast and is prepared to do the tasks necessary to return your home to pre-damaged condition.

The extent of water damage to your Montrose home after a toilet leak surprises you. Replacing the seal stops the water from seeping around the base and onto your bathroom floor. Still, the plumber suggests calling a restoration company is the next step. We take the time to evaluate the bathroom itself and all areas where water migrated, ensuring no lingering water issues continue to threaten your house. We apply antimicrobial agents as a precaution against gray or black contaminated water or remaining debris.

When the SERVPRO team arrives, we take moisture readings in all areas around the initial leak. The water often pools up in hard-to-access areas between walls and under the subfloor. Water follows pipes and electrical lines, causing damage to surfaces many feet or yards away from where the homeowner expects. Without a plan to find and remove that hidden water and dry out the wooden framing, drywall, and ceilings, secondary water damage is probable. This can include deterioration of building materials, crumbling of sheetrock, bubbling and peeling of paint, and dry rot.

Water that remains unabated for more than 24 to 48 hours puts your home at risk of mold growth. Avoiding mold is preferable to remediating it, so we work hard to start drying all affected areas. We extract any hidden water using flexible tubing after cutting access holes or carefully punching through a bowed ceiling to release moisture. Then our crew positions air movers to dry out the structure. Dehumidifiers add to the effort, and all the while, our trained technicians monitor moisture levels using state-of-the-art probes and scanning techniques.

In the bathroom, the crew extracts any water remaining around the toilet and examines the flooring, possibly pulling up a few tiles to verify the subfloor is drying out. We use air movers and dehumidifiers in the bathroom as well. When moisture falls to acceptable levels, we repair any areas we disturbed in our water search, ensuring everything looks “Like it never even happened.”

SERVPRO of Montrose / Telluride is your partner to restore water damage after the plumber leaves. Call (970) 240-6970 immediately after knowing water is the culprit in any damage you notice in your home.

These industrial-grade tools speed up their work and make it more effective. Some of the high-tech gear our workers use is:

What Process Does SERVPRO Follow to Remove Water and Dry My Home?

We follow a well-developed plan of action to restore your home to its original condition. First, using water extractors, technicians remove any deep standing water from your residence. They continue by vacuuming up any remaining puddles with wet vacs. The following steps of the process involve expertly drying your interiors to prevent microbial growth and future structural and personal property damage. Using high-velocity box fans, air movers, and dehumidifiers, our experienced workers draw excess moisture out of your interiors and furnishings. They use injectidry systems in combination with air mover-dehumidifier networks to dry out places in ceilings, subflooring, and behind walls.

How Does SERVPRO Disinfect and Deodorize My House?

Properly restoring a water-damaged home involves more than simply removing standing water and related moisture. It requires effective mitigation or elimination of microbial threats, as well as the unpleasant odors associated with harmful microorganisms.

The tools SERVPRO technicians use to complete this crucial work are:

  • High-tech ultra-low volume (ULV) and thermal foggers that enable workers to neutralize harmful microbes and odorous airborne/material-embedded particles
  • EPA-approved antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal agents
  • Humidity-decreasing chemicals that hinder microbial growth
  • Agents that pair with harmful particles, removing them from the air and making them easier to clean up off of surfaces

Our Montrose area experts, utilizing these advanced water damage mitigation and remediation tools, are often able to prevent the proliferation of harmful bacteria, the development of mold, and large mildew growths. Moreover, they usually can save your home from the potentially detrimental health effects, structure-destroying dry rot, and sickening smells associated with these troublesome microorganisms.

With all that said, no one ever wants to think about having to deal with water damage. This, however, is a serious mistake because ignoring such problems could result in extensive structural damage to your residence that requires expensive, time-consuming future repairs. Therefore, remain vigilant, keep up with your property’s maintenance needs, always monitor your home for any signs of water leaks, and have your home periodically inspected for water damage. Some potential threats to look out for are roof and gutter-related leaks, ruptured or dripping pipes, malfunctioning appliances, and compromised or damaged containers. If and when problems are discovered, have them fixed immediately to avoid more extensive and expensive future issues.

Whenever leaks impact your property, remember that help is available nearby. SERVPRO can professionally inspect your residence, locate sources of excess moisture and fix them, remove any amount of standing water, effectively dry all parts of your home and its contents, and thoroughly disinfect and deodorize your living space. So, if your home is ever damaged by water, stay on top of the matter and have the issue resolved as soon as possible.

Breaking the Cycle of Frozen Pipes and Ice Damming Issues in Montrose Homes

12/15/2021 (Permalink)

Ice dam on a the roof of a home. When water damage strikes, give SERVPRO of Montrose / Telluride a call. We are here to fully assist you.

SERVPRO Can Implement Stopgap Measures or Make Changes That Deliver Long Term Results

Enduring the inconvenience of frozen pipes and ice damming each winter can leave you feeling drained and your pockets empty. Therefore, finding a long-term solution is essential to safeguard your Montrose home and help you focus on other things or simply enjoy the comfort your home offers.

When thinking of a solution to frozen pipes and ice damming in your Montrose home, you should start by evaluating the situation to determine the best approach. For instance, SERVPRO can use simple solutions to prevent pipes from freezing as a stopgap measure.

Three simple methods that prevent pipes from freezing include:

  • Draining water lines
  • Keeping pipes warm
  • Using hot water recirculation devices

Since water rapidly expands when it freezes, a simple solution to mitigate its effects is ensuring pipes are empty or maintaining temperatures above the freezing point. Opening faucets, especially those leading outside the house, limits the freezing risk. Keeping the water in the pipes warm is also a viable short-term solution. Installing a hot water recirculation device through one of the existing faucet supply lines in the house guarantees this. Alternatively, insulating exposed pipes can help slow down the loss of temperature and thus limit the chances of freezing.

Short-term measures may eliminate the risk of freezing but require hands-on management, which may not be practical. Finding a long-term solution is essential for frozen pipe issues as well as ice damming. Better insulation of the structure is a formidable solution. Our SERVPRO technicians can help evaluate your house to determine whether pipes are exposed, or the ceiling is fully insulated.

Other long term approaches to fix freezing issues include:

  • Caulking around vent pipes and electrical cables
  • Ventilating the ridge and eaves
  • Sealing and insulating ducts

SERVPRO of Montrose / Telluride provides solutions to frozen pipes and ice damming tailored to match your needs. You can reach us at (970) 240-6970. We’re Faster To Any Size Disaster.

SERVPRO equipment at work. Water damage may occur in many ways. SERVPROs water damage restoration team has an answer for every issue, no matter the size or place.

For Any Major Water Intrusion in Your Delta Home, It's Best to Let the Professionals Handle the Cleanup

There are a large number of things that can cause residential flooding. When it does happen, it can mean ruined items, structural damage, and extensive repairs. Contacting a water damage restoration company in Delta should be first on your list if flooding does occur. You can save both money and time when you work with the pros.

Why Can't I Cleanup Myself?

It may seem smart money-wise to take care of water cleanup in your Delta home on your own. After all, the internet has plenty of DIY tips that make it sound easy. But the reality is, after any significant water damaging event, it is better to put the situation in the hands of experts who understand what needs to be done. Here are some reasons it is best to deal with a professional restoration business:

  • Insurance Claims – Your insurance will most likely require you to work with someone who can adequately assess the damage. They want certified pros to back up any claims that are made.
  • Industrial Equipment – The hazards and cleanup requirements that come with household flooding require equipment beyond the typical homeowner's scope. If you do not have the needed equipment, you can do more harm than good.
  • Safety Reasons – Trained technicians know what to look for when it comes to safety. Water cleanup may require dealing with black water if sewage or other contaminants are involved.
  • Efficiency – The longer the cleanup takes, the great the chance of secondary damage such as mold and mildew. Immediate water mitigation means more of your content, and home can be restored. Cleanup and restoration can take longer than you think when you attempt it on your own. Professional help saves you and your insurance company money in the long run.

Not All Water Damage is Readily Apparent, So You Should Have Your Home Inspected by a Reputable Cleaning and Restoration Company in Montrose.

Most people envision water damage in its more overt forms, like when a pipe ruptures and suddenly floods their Montrose bathroom, kitchen, or basement. The reality is that such catastrophic harm often results from relatively minor leaks in roofs, pipes, or hidden parts of appliances. It happens over long periods of time, instead of suddenly, usually taking months or even years to become apparent. By the time the damage is noticeable, it could cost you tens of thousands or more to repair. The related expenses are measured not only in dollars, but also in time and trouble. Considering all this, you benefit greatly from discovering potential sources of such property injuries as soon as possible. Companies in Montrose, like SERVPRO, can help you locate such issues long before they become obvious and costly.

Why is SERVPRO a Good Service to Call in Montrose?

SERVPRO is one of the better services that remediate water damage in Montrose. It is a company that has, over the years, built a strong reputation in the cleaning and remediation industry. • Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) - certified firm.
  • Many technicians are certified in multiple areas, like water damage restoration, applied structural drying, and odor control, and so are better able to identify and resolve interrelated problems.
  • We have a high-tech cleaning facility, where your furnishings/personal property are restored and kept while work is completed on your residence.

What are Common Signs of Slow-Progressing Water-Related Damage?

It’s challenging to discover slow-progressing water problems on your own because, often, they are not clearly visible and do not demand immediate action. Over time, though, these issues can cause just as much trouble as their sudden, more-apparent counterparts. With all that said, some of the more common signs of slow-progressing water damage are:

  • Musty smells
  • Ceiling or wall discoloration
  • Water stains on ceiling and walls
  • Discoloration or rot in attic rafters
  • Attic insulation that is moldy
  • Wall or baseboard mold
  • Paint or wallpaper bubbling
  • Drywall or plaster that is deteriorating
  • Buckling of ceilings and floors
  • Warping of walls

If you notice even one of these telltale signs, you likely have a water leak somewhere and should seek immediate assistance from a good mitigation and remediation company in Montrose.

How Can SERVPRO Find Inconspicuous Water Damage in My Montrose Home?

While it is sometimes possible to detect slow-progressing water damage yourself, the problem has usually progressed to an advanced state by that point. Conversely, our company technicians, using high-tech moisture detection equipment, are able to find water issues almost as soon as they start. Therefore, you should periodically have your home inspected to catch problems before they grow into more substantial, structure-compromising concerns. During their inspections, our workers generally:

  • Attempt to detect moisture in walls, baseboards, and carpets with moisture sensors.
  • Measure levels of detected moisture with meters.
  • Use infrared cameras to see through walls, baseboards, etc. in order to identify water sources.
  • Employ thermo hygrometers to gauge air moisture levels in your home.
  • Determine if the water involved in your leak is contaminated and its level of contamination.
  • Ascertain how extensive your water damage is and if they are any safety issues related to the presence of asbestos or lead.
  • After they thoroughly inspect your house, our experts in Montrose write down their findings and plan how to resolve your home’s issues.

SERVPRO Technicians use Advance Water Cleanup Technology to Restore Flooring in Telluride

When a water intrusion occurs in a home, damaged flooring is one of the more common problems. Burst pipes can cause water to pour out into the kitchen and nearby areas. This can cause water damage to hardwood floors.

What Happens When Hardwood Floors Get Wet?

To save your flooring, you need to get professional water cleanup help in Telluride immediately. The longer the water is absorbed, the worse the damage to flooring material. When the moisture level goes above what is acceptable for hardwood floors, typically around 10%, the damage begins. This can lead to:

  • Distorted planks
  • Buckling
  • Cupping
  • Crowning
  • Damaged subflooring

Restoring Hardwood Floors

Our Green Team can restore the flooring if prompt action is taken. They use special floor mats in combination with truck-mounted extractors to pull moisture from several layers. The floor then gets appropriately dried. Other services used in water cleanup include:

  • Basement flooding cleanup
  • Ceiling repairs from water damage
  • Water damage remediation
  • Disposal of unsalvageable material
  • Water damage restoration

What Goes into Properly Drying Water Damaged Homes in Telluride?

SERVPRO water restoration companies employ professional drying techniques when remediating water damage

“There’s gold in them thar hills!” Those were the words that spurred the gold rush in Pikes Peak in 1858. In 1875, placer gold was discovered in the San Miguel River along with The Smuggler gold vein. The vein ran above what would become Telluride.

A Slow Beginning

Telluride was initially known as Columbia but was often confused with Columbia, CA, so the name was changed in 1887. The settlement of the town began when John Fallon made a claim in 1875 in Marshal Basin. The chemical element tellurium, a metalloid element that produces natural tellurides such as silver and gold, is what the town is named after. The Telluride mountains never produced those gold minerals but were rich in:

  •   Zinc
  •   Lead
  •   Copper
  •   Silver
  •   Gold (in other forms)

In 1881, Otto Mears opened a toll road, which meant wagons could now get to the location. Before this, only pack mules were used to travel to the mining areas.

A Bank Robber Gets His Start in Telluride

Before Butch Cassidy had a gang, he worked alone. He got his official start by robbing the San Miguel Valley Bank in June of 1889. He took $24,580 of Telluride money with him and thus began his road to “fame.”

The Railroad Comes to Town

Otto Mears expanded transportation in the city when he started the Rio Grande Southern railroad in 1891. It had:

  •   A two-stall engine house
  •   Water facilities
  •   Section house
  •   Bunkhouse
  •   Sidings
  •   A depot

It was quite an undertaking for the time. It went up the valley and ended its branch at Pandora. The railroad would serve the town and the mines until 1952, when it shut down. It was a boon to the area, unlike anything seen before or after. Miners and goods could travel consistently to the town, and the ore was removed to mills and foundries safely. Telluride has several famous mines, including:

  •   Tomboy
  •   Pandora
  •   Smuggler-Union
  •   Nellie
  •   Sheridan

From Mining to Skiing

Until 1972 Telluride’s only industry was mining. Then Joseph T. Zoline and the Telluride Ski Corporation installed the first ski lift. Mining families drifted to other locations, and slowly the area changed to one of a casual lifestyle, emphasizing outdoor attractions such as mountain climbing, kayaking, and hang gliding. In the ‘80s, it became known as “Colorado’s best-kept secret.” Skiing and sightseeing became huge attractions. Sadly, it also became infamous for being a drop point for drug smuggling.

Today Telluride has moved on from its bad reputation with drugs and its past as a mining town. It is a beautiful tourist town with plenty of outdoor excitement for everyone to enjoy.

SERVPRO Water Restoration Companies Provide Water Damage Clean Up

When water overflows into your home and spreads onto the flooring, under cabinets, and down walls it is time to call in the experts. Water extraction is crucial, along with efficient drying. •   Using the banking technique with air moving equipment. This ensures airflow streams are consistent and walls are not damaged during the drying process.
  •   Placing dehumidifiers correctly to pull moist air from the environment
  •   Ensuring there is adequate space for air to circulate
  •   Using controlled demolition to create openings for cavity drying

Drying a home correctly requires the proper expertise, experience, and equipment. SERVPRO water restoration companies have what it takes to dry out your home. Contact SERVPRO of Montrose / Telluride at (970) 240-6970 if your home is water damaged.

What Kind of Methods Do Water Restorers Use to Fix a Wet Property?

10/15/2020 (Permalink)

Hands holding home After a water incident occurs. You can trust that your home is in good hands with our experienced technicians at SERVPRO.

SERVPRO Technicians Use a Variety of Equipment to Implement Water Damage Restoration in your Montrose home.

Does airflow assist drying?

Managing airflow and ventilation in your Montrose property is a vital way of reducing drying times and therefore damages caused by moisture. Knowing the right techniques is a core-skill that water restoration technicians (WRT) draw on to ensure we can mitigate potential losses in the home. While having the right equipment is one part of effective drying, knowing precisely how to position that equipment is equally essential. Failure to adopt the correct formation of drying equipment could lead to further damages. Placing an air-mover in a property should be a calculated decision. SERVPRO technicians undergo extensive training and gain essential experience working under a crew chief to ensure that we can mitigate loss from residential water intrusion events. If power is unavailable, our technicians can bring in portable generators to the property for temporary mitigation purposes.

How does an air-mover impact property drying?

Speeding up evaporation is the goal of water damage restoration technicians working in your Montrose home. To evaporate quickly, wet materials require temperature and dry air to evaporate into. When a surface is wet, the evaporating moisture can form a vapor barrier of humid air directly above the surface. This barrier can impede drying times, which is why ensuring air above surfaces is in constant motion is essential to efficient drying. Air-movers come in axial or centrifugal varieties and can blast surfaces with warm, dry air. Placing multiple air movers in a property can ensure exponential ventilation. When deploying an air-mover, it is vital to position it at a 45 degree to the surface. Head-on air movement could dry moist air into drywall or other material assemblies, causing further harm to the property.

How do technicians position air-movers efficiently?

Aim the air-mover at a 45-degree angle to the surface being dried and consider daisy-chaining multiple air-movers from one power source

Place air-movers in a clockwise pattern using the inlet to face the wall and the snout in direct contact with the wall surface

Position air-movers, so that affected surfaces are in the direct air stream that the air-movers create. Consider placing air-movers on windows or closets if necessary.

Is it possible to dry ceilings efficiently?

Water intrusion can come from a variety of sources. If there is a structural deficiency, rainwater can come through the roof and migrate through the lower levels. Equally, worn away sealant in wet rooms can cause dripping through the ceiling of the floor below. Air-moving equipment is adaptable and, therefore, useful for drying tops as well as walls. Similar to a wall, the air-mover placement should be a 45-degree angle to direct air across the wall instead of directly against the surface. Where there are drop ceilings, SERVPRO technicians can temporarily remove panels from the furthest points of the ceiling and direct air into the cavity for comprehensive drying.

How do you get water out of walls?

Disengage the baseboard of the wall if there is evidence of water migrating into the wall cavity

Drill a hole into the wall behind the baseboard of one and a half inches between the wall stud. Only drill holes through one side of the wall.

Attach an air-mover to a wall venting system, like an injectidry, and push warm air upwards through the wall cavity to ensure cavity drying.

How do technicians remove baseboards from a wall?

We recommend that removing the baseboard be left to professional technicians. Even water restoration technicians (WRT) can damage a wall when removing the baseboard. The safest method to disengage a baseboard is by using a claw hammer or a nail pulling tool. To ensure the wall does not sustain damage, SERVPRO technicians place a thin board against the wall surface to minimize the risk of further harm. Baseboards must be disengaged gently to avoid affecting the wall surface. Sometimes, older building assemblies can warp or change shape over time, becoming increasingly fragile as well as difficult to disassemble. A professional technician has the requisite experience to perform wall cavity drying with maximum mitigation against potential losses. Some technicians undertake specific applied structural drying (ASD) qualifications to perform better water restoration for Montrose residents.

What are the core criteria for efficient drying?

Banking of air moving equipment to ensure that walls do not sustain damage and airflow streams are consistent throughout the property.

Making sure there is space for circulating air currents to travel into and placing dehumidifiers to collect moist air from the indoor environment.

Taking extra care when drilling into walls or removing baseboard to allow for specific cavity drying of walls.

Drying a property efficiently requires significant knowledge as well as the implementation of advanced equipment. Contact SERVPRO of Montrose / Telluride at (970) 240-6970.

What Should I Know About Water Damage in Ouray?

7/10/2020 (Permalink)

Leaking Pipe When facing a broken pipe scenario in your home, water damage can result. Contact SERVPRO for water removal.

Save Your Belongings After a Water Incident.

Water damage from a broken pipe, plumbing issue, or problems with the laundry can be a significant hazard for your residential establishment. When water seeps through your walls and carpets, they are here to stay. They can cause odor, the growth of microorganisms, and destroyed the structural foundation of your home at the same time. The most painful part is replacing or repairing your belongings after the water damage.

Water damage in Ouray can be a costly situation. The most common question that people often have is how do I save my belongings? The first thing to do is to determine what type of damage that you have on your hands. You want to check whether the water that caused this problem is clean or not. If you are dealing with fresh water, then there is a considerable chance that your belongings are salvageable. However, contaminated water can be an issue, and it might be a good idea to get rid of it to avoid potential health problems. You might also want to check how long the items have been wet. The longer an object sits in the water, the more it has been penetrated. That means it might be hard to save. The final factor is to determine whether the item is porous or nonporous. A porous material such as paper, fabric, and wood tends to absorb and retain water very well. This mechanism might make them susceptible to bacteria growth, but that does not mean that you have to get rid of them.

Luckily, with SERVPRO technicians, we might be able to restore your belongings. We can inspect the item and determine what type of cleaning methods to use to save it. We have a variety of cleaning techniques such as dry cleaning which can clean dry residual. Wet cleaning can help remove moderate to heavy residual. Spray and wipe is efficient for items that can't deal with wet cleaning. Foam cleaning is often for fabric material that can shrink or bleed from moisture. Abrasive cleaning involves irritating the surface that is being clean. The last one is immersion cleaning where we place your items into a combination of cleaning product in a bath. Whatever the case is, the SERVPRO technician can help save your stuff through a variety of advanced techniques.

If you are interested in salvaging your belongings after water damage, then give SERVPRO of Montrose / Telluride a call at (970) 240-6970 for a consultation with our skilled technicians.

How can I be on the lookout for water damage in my Delta Home?

6/15/2020 (Permalink)

House There are many ways that water can cause you trouble within your Delta home.

Simple accidents can cause water damage in your home.

There are many ways that water can cause you trouble within your Delta home. While aging appliances seem to top the list with causing the most significant water damages, user error has also been a substantial contributor to the likelihood of water damage as well. From a forgetful filling of a bathtub to the improper installation of a new washing machine, user error can cause many instances of damage where professional restorers are necessary to clean up the mess.

Regardless of the circumstances, water damage in your Delta home is something that you want to take care of immediately. While there are plenty of homeowners that believe that a little bit of drying is sufficient for cleanup, this is not always the case. In fact, improperly cleaning up after water damage and getting the area completely dry could cause worsening troubles for your home in the immediate future.

Our SERVPRO team has the experience and equipment to make short work of any water damage that you have in your home. Regardless of the severity of the problem that you face, our professionals can assess the extent of the damage and what needs to happen to successfully restore it. For many cases, spot extraction and drying are the primary components to the cleanup process.

With lesser volumes of water, extraction often only requires wet-vacs. Drying the area is a combined effort using both air movers and dehumidification equipment. Infrared imagery gets used to determine if the surface drying efforts took care of moisture and dampness entirely, or if further, (more invasive) equipment is necessary to complete the job.

Overcoming water damage in your home is often a job for a professional restoration team. Inadequate cleaning and drying of the damage could result in worsening structural concerns, weakening of materials used to support your home, or even compounding damages like mold and microbial growth. Give SERVPRO of Montrose / Telluride a call today and let our technicians help you clean up the mess you face. You can reach us anytime at (970) 240-6970.

Water Cleanup In Delta Can Require The Demolition Of Unsalvageable Materials

If a plumbing system fails in a unit above your Delta condo, it could cause excessive moisture to enter your dwelling from your ceiling. Whenever the source of a leak is above your unit, the H2O that enters can cause you to have to conduct extensive water cleanup because the moisture will follow gravity down and possibly negatively affect several of your contents and building materials on the way down.

Whenever a professional company such as SERVPRO conducts water cleanup in your Delta condominium, we start by doing a thorough inspection of your structure. We can use specialized moisture sensors and other equipment like infrared cameras to find where all the moisture went. In some cases, we can save many of your contents and building materials with our extraction and structural drying procedures. In other situations, when items get saturated and ruined, we must remove and replace them.

When deciding to remove your affected contents or building materials, our SERVPRO technicians take into account the porosity of the material and whether not the moisture was contaminated. For example, if your flooring gets affected by water damage that comes from a category two or three sources, all of your wet carpets and pad must be removed. In category two situations where water from the outside or sources like sink or bath drains, the pad must be removed, but it is possible to salvage the carpets. In category three cases where the source is a backed-up toilet or sewage drain, both the carpet and pad must get removed and disposed of due to the possibility of contamination.

If the moisture coming into your condo from above has saturated your walls and ceiling, the drywall or other material may have to be cut down and removed. Whenever our SERVPRO crew removes ceiling or your sheetrock, we follow the moisture and cut just the section that got ruined. To make hanging the replacement drywall easier, we can cut the drywall to a stud that did not get wet.

If you ever notice H2O pouring into your condo from the ceiling, it is wise to call SERVPRO of Montrose / Telluride at (970) 240-6970 24/7. We're Faster To Any Size Disaster.

Fight Water Damage in Your Delta Home

Between sinks, dishwashers, and refrigerators, water damage often occurs in kitchens. The cooking area also has some of the most expensive appliances and hardware in many homes. Protecting your kitchen, your home investment, and mitigating loss after a water line leak is essential.

If you discover your kitchen with water damage in Delta, the specialists at SERVPRO are available 24/7 to help you with everything you need to restore your home. A broken water line running from the sink to the refrigerator may damage your cabinets, baseboard, and even the tile flooring. Taking quick action to ensure no further damage is necessary. Don't worry. We're Faster To Any Size Disaster.

First, we remove any excess water using our portable water extractor. It holds anywhere between five and twelve gallons of water. Typically, a kitchen leak does not require a large quantity of water removed, but several passes of the impacted area are often required to get out as much moisture as possible. The more water the technicians extract, the quicker your flooring and cabinets dry. We can also use squeegees, mops and buckets, or whatever it takes to remove the spillage.

After the SERVPRO technicians extract the water damage, they utilize air movers. Air movers facilitate quicker water evaporation and the water vapor can be condensed with our advanced dehumidifiers. The wall cavity ventilating system tackles the moisture remaining in the baseboards and cabinets. These systems target moisture with a blower and attached hoses to ensure no lingering issues such as foul odors or potential mold growth. We clean and deodorize any damaged items by using our specialized cleaners like our orange cleaner. We disinfect and deodorize to bring your kitchen back to preloss status.

The SERVPRO team uses moisture meters to determine the moisture content of your kitchen materials throughout the restoration process. The penetrating probes or flat probes test wall cavities between cabinets and underneath the flooring. The impacted items in the kitchen may seem dry but could have high moisture content. The objective is to restore your items to preloss moisture. Anything above 19% moisture content is too high in most homes.

SERVPRO of Montrose / Telluride is here to help you with your water damage needs. Call us at (970) 240-6970, so our trained technicians make it "Like it never even happened. "

Efficient Water Cleanup In Your Delta Residence Involves The Use Of Advanced Equipment

Uncontrollable leaks, whether from malfunctioning appliances, plumbing defects or burst water mains can cause severe damage in your Delta home. The water can affect several rooms or ingress into small gaps, making it challenging to dry out naturally. Water that remains in your property can increase the chance of mold infestation and rot.

Even though the water in your property can appear clean, it can contain microbes. Performing water cleanup in your Delta home speedily is essential. Clean water can turn into gray or even black water if it remains in the affected areas for over 24 four hours. You can take the following steps to clean up your home:

    •    If the leak occurred close to any electrical appliance, shut off the power before you start to clean.
    •    Remove soaked furniture, area rugs, and other removable items from the flooded areas.
    •    Use a shop-vac to extract water from the floor.
    •    Ventilate your house by opening doors and windows to let in air.
    •    Place desiccant products such as sachets of silica gel near floors or walls that have absorbed moisture.

If you find out that the water has seeped into the drywall, subflooring, or other hard-to-access areas, the safest step is to contact SERVPRO franchise professionals. We have moisture detection tools like thermal imaging cameras, moisture meters, and moisture sensors that help us find hidden sources of moisture. We can be on-site within one hour of receiving your call to extract the water, dry, and return your home to its preloss state.

We have state-of-the-art water cleanup and drying equipment to handle water cleanup jobs of any size. Our WRT, water damage restoration technicians use extractors with a pump, a heater, and a vacuum function to extract the standing water. Extractors are useful for cleaning upholstery, carpets, and removing water from the flooring. We can easily access restricted areas using portable extractors.

Our SERVPRO crew also uses air movers to create airflow across all the wet surfaces. These devices reduce the time it takes to dry out the water-damaged floors, carpets, and wall cavities behind drywall. They also dry paint and concrete effectively. We have centrifugal air movers, which are designed for spot treatments. They draw air from several sources and direct it to particular areas. Our technicians use them to dry hard-to-reach areas like inside closets, under cabinets and in crawl spaces. We adjust them to provide airflow at several angles.

Our technicians also use desiccant or refrigerant dehumidifiers to extract moisture from the air. We maintain a balance between the air moving and dehumidifying equipment. Using professional-grade water removal, drying, and moisture detection equipment helps prevent secondary damage, therefore protecting the structural integrity of your home.

How To Salvage Wood Floors Affected By Water Damage In A Montrose Vacation Home

The truth about water damage is that it can happen at any time, including while you are on vacation. If damage from a leaky or burst pipe is allowed to proliferate for several days, it can lead to soggy floors and potentially costly repairs. However, a phone call from a watchful neighbor can be the difference between an utterly unsalvageable floor and one that can be restored.

Mold growth
• Warping
• Cupping
• Wood rot

When our SERVPRO team comes to you, we can quickly and carefully remove planks and use floor scrapers to smooth out the flooring underneath and get to work drying your floors with air movers and dehumidifiers, which are designed to pull moisture out of surfaces and eliminate it so it can be replaced with warm, dry air.

Due to the frequency of natural disasters in the region, we do more than just salvage homes. We donate reusable canvas bags and other items for charity raffles, particularly for charities that aid local residents displaced by extreme weather. Our Water Damage Specialists Will Protect Your Montrose Home From Microbes During The Cleanup Process

5/29/2019 (Permalink)

Since mold can grow in as little as 72 hours, controlling humidity is essential to making sure secondary damages are kept to a minimum.

Protecting Your Home From Microbes During Water Cleanup In Montrose

Microbes and bacteria are ever present in all types of water. Although not considered detrimental to your health, microbes can cause unpleasant odors in the home or become a breeding ground for more serious issues like mold. Since all water has at least some microbial content, enlisting a professional restorer can ensure that a minor water spill does not result in more severe property damages.

Not all services provide a comprehensive solution for water cleanup in Montrose. SERVPRO offers residents highly trained technicians who are well versed in containing and controlling microbial growth. Using a full range of cleaning products, equipment, and procedure, we can ensure that your property damages do not cause long-term or even permanent issues.

It is not always advisable to dry a property immediately on arrival. Sometimes, staining to furniture, fittings, or fabrics is best treated before materials are dry. Using non-corrosive sanitizers, a SERVPRO technician can remove staining from fabrics before they have had a chance to set and become permanent. It can also be beneficial to spray contents with deodorants before they are dry to increase the likelihood of remedying malodors.

Once pre-cleaning work is complete, the next step is to perform a proper drying procedure. Depending on the scale of the work at hand, your SERVPRO technician may decide to create a closed or open circuit for drying. Open circuits involve creating air circulation by ventilating the property by opening windows or doors and encouraging circulation using air moving equipment. Closed circuit systems use dehumidifiers alongside rapid air-movers or extraction units in an area contained by physical barriers.

In both open and closed systems of drying the key is controlling humidity. Microbes can germinate in warm, humid environments. To guard against that, a trained technician can reduce humidity levels below 60 Grains Per Pound (GPP). Since mold can grow in as little as 72 hours, controlling humidity is essential to making sure secondary damages are kept to a minimum. At the end of service, the affected area alongside any contents may be treated with anti-microbial chemicals or biocides to produce an extra protective layer against secondary damages.

Use a trained professional to prevent secondary damages, contact SERVPRO of Montrose / Telluride at (970) 240-6970.

How Does the Injectidry System Dry Water Damaged Hardwood Floors in Montrose?

2/27/2019 (Permalink)

SERVPRO of Montrose / Telluride is available 24/7 to restore your water loss incidents.

Restoring Water-Damaged Hardwood in Montrose Homes

Water loss incidents that occur in your Montrose home can pose several concerns for its structural integrity and construction materials. Responding quickly to pooling water can help to reduce the saturation of affected materials by getting professional restoration technicians on site quickly to begin drying and extraction efforts. This response is especially critical when hardwood floors become saturated or exposed to the water loss incident. With the right equipment and expertise, our technicians can help to preserve your flooring quickly.

Often restoring water damage to hardwood flooring in your Montrose home relies on the use of advanced equipment like our injectidry system. This setup can work to pull moisture from the material at a controlled rate, while also allowing our SERVPRO team to monitor moisture content throughout the process. Hardwood has a natural moisture level that varies slightly based on atmospheric conditions and climate, but this low moisture content is important to protect the strength and look of the planks.

Our technicians responding to a water loss incident in your home can assess moisture content within the wood planks of your flooring using moisture detection devices as well as thermal imagery. This knowledge can help our professionals to find the ideal locations to install the injectidry mats to begin drawing moisture from the exposed wood planks that indicate excessive moisture levels.

Restoring hardwood is a delicate process because excessive drying of the planks can cause damage as well, so it is essential for our team to determine a constant moisture level to obtain before we begin drying efforts of the wood and subflooring with our mats. For excessively saturated floors, we can tent in the mats of the injectidry system to maintain a constant draw across the entire floor beneath the tent, which is ideal in instances where excessive moisture could begin to warp and distort the planks.

Hardwood floors are an everyday staple of modern construction, but without the appropriate restoration team helping to dry them out after a water loss incident, could prove costly to replace. Give our SERVPRO of Montrose / Telluride rapid response team a call today at (970) 240-6970.

Don't Let Water Damage in Crested Butte Control Your Life

9/16/2018 (Permalink)

If your home suffers from a water damage event, contact SERVPRO to effectively dry out and mitigate the damage.

SERVPRO Technicians Arrive With Tools to BOTH Locate and Dry Out the Excess Water in Your Home

Water damage is a problem that most homeowners dread. When it rains or snows, the risk of this damage increases significantly. It can also cost you over thousands of dollars and can lead to the growth of mold, mildew, bacteria, and other toxins. There are various causes of water damage such as a broken dishwasher, a clogged toilet, a broken hose, an overflowing washing machine, a leaky roof, a plumbing leak, and a foundation crack. If the carpets absorb too much water, it can lead to odors and other problems.

Once you witness a slight indication of water damage in the Crested Butte property, it is essential to call a reliable water restoration company as soon as possible. Homeowners often think that they can handle the issues on their own. Unfortunately, extracting water and moisture requires advanced tools and expertise that many of us do not have. This process is not a simple DIY project, and if you consider the challenge, it can be very costly.

SERVPRO can send their skilled technicians to analyze the damage and begin the mitigation process to reduce potential property damage. With this process, the techs can utilize advanced drying and water extraction techniques. They can use equipment such as moisture sensor, moisture meter, and thermal hygrometers to detect the moisture content in materials and water vapor. This process can help determine whether the environment is favorable for drying or not. Keep in mind that these experts can control the temperature and humidity levels to create maximum drying conditions while attempting to prevent secondary damages.

If your carpet had suffered through water damage, the extractor equipment can help eliminate water from the floor. The air mover can increase evaporation at the surface level to reduce the drying time. It works by increasing the airflow so the moisture in the air can also increase. This process can get rid of excess water vapor through the dehumidification equipment. The desiccant dehumidifier can use a chemical gel-like silicone to absorb moisture and remove it. Keep in mind that even after all the moisture is gone, the odor still lingers. Luckily, the technicians have an Ultra Low Volume (ULV) Fogger that will emit a fine mist to destroy odor-causing particles. The device can also inject fungicides and disinfectants into wall cavities and other places that are difficult to reach. After the restoration process, the technicians can walk you through your house to make sure that you are happy with the results.

If you have experienced the aftermath of water damage, then call SERVPRO of Montrose/Telluride at 970-240-6970 for a consultation. We can send our skilled technicians to your house as soon as possible.

Water Damage Technicians in Delta Talk About Electrical Hazards

7/11/2018 (Permalink)

Electricity and Water Can Be A Lethal Combination--Call SERVPRO for Water Removal in Delta

SERVPRO Proceeds with Caution When Electricity May Be a Factor in Water Removal at Your Delta Property

Whenever water leaks from an appliance or water pipe and gets into the living area of your Delta residence, possible safety hazards can exist. Water can saturate items and force them to lose their structural integrity and fall apart. For example, if your ceiling gets saturated the tiles or drywall can lose strength and fall creating risks to the safety of the building's occupants. Excessive moisture can also create electrical hazards that can make the work area dangerous.

Everyone knows that water and electricity is not a safe combination. This why during any water damage in Delta our SERVPRO technicians inspect the damaged area and see if anywhere that has electrical wires got affected. If the leak happened on the second-floor water may get into the first floor's ceiling where wiring runs. If water got into your house's attic, then wires could also get wet.

When water meets electrical wires or appliances, it can be disastrous because water conducts electricity. Having current running through water inside a building can create hazards for both our SERVPRO crew and you and your family. Our IICRC certified crew is trained to look for these hazards during the initial inspection. If we find any problems that propose a potential risk, we figure out how to mitigate the issue before any work begins.

The first step to any restoration project is to make your home safe for everyone throughout the work process. For example, say we walk into your house and see a light fixture filled with water and the light bulb is still working. If a light fixture is full, it could short out and run current through the water and be dangerous for people walking into the room. Electrocution is also the number one cause of fatalities for firefighters.

During this scenario, we first go to the power distribution box inside your home and make sure it did not get wet as well. If it is safe to touch, we shut the power off to the whole house. Once we figure out which areas were affected, we can then turn power on to unaffected parts of the home and shut off the breakers to the areas of your house that got wet.

If we are confident that we fixed the electrical issue, then we can begin work and warn you not to turn the power on in affected rooms. If the problem with wet electrical wiring is severe or complicated, then we can call in a certified electrician to fix the problem. If you ever notice water near electricity in your home, call SERVPRO of Montrose / Telluride at (970) 240-6970 24/7.

Water damage in your home can make your space feel uninhabitable. Contact SERVPRO and we'll change that for the better.

SERVPRO Technicians Use the Latest Water Detection Equipment for Water Damage Remediation in Your Home

There are several sources which can lead to water damage in your home or commercial property. They can be weather-related or when your plumbing or appliances are faulty. Despite the source of the moisture, one thing is clear - such an experience can disrupt your life and lead to loss of valuables. We are here to let you know the steps you should take to prevent and address such an in incident as a Crested Butte resident.

While our SERVPRO technicians can visually inspect your property for water damage in Crested Butte, sometimes we use thermal imaging cameras and acoustic leak detectors to make the inspection work more manageable. As a precaution measure, if you notice a significant increase in your water bill, there are chances that a leak exists, and working with an expert can help you eliminate such a cause.

Usually, pipes in basements, attics and any other exposed areas are insulated to prevent them from freezing. However, if it happens that there is a leak, and the insulation is wet, it is time to detach the padding and extract the water. Our SERVPRO team uses portable extractors when removing the water from areas with limited space; otherwise, we use truck-mounted pumps when space is big enough.

Another technique we use to remove the water is dehumidification. Our SERVPRO technicians use this method once the physical extraction process is complete and heaters/air movers have been put in place to evaporate the water. The work of dehumidifiers is to remove the additional moisture that evaporates from surfaces to the air.

Our team performs deodorization to deal with any unpleasant smells in the area. By using thermal foggers, we can dispense agents into the target locations. Sometimes the deodorants we use are flammable, so we turn off any sources of ignition or pilot lights.

At SERVPRO of Montrose / Telluride, We're Faster To Any Size Disaster whether it is fire, storm, mold or water related. Call us at (970) 240-6970 if you need trusted services from an industry leader.

Understanding the Factors Affecting Drying After Water Damage to Your Delta Property

2/18/2018 (Permalink)

Whether water damage comes from inside or outside of your home, your best defense is to contact SERVPRO for remediation and restoration services.

SERVPRO Has Drying Your Property After Water Damage Down to a Science

Drying a house and its contents after a water damage incident is crucial to minimize any long-term damage. Professional restoration experts use scientific knowledge of the drying process to create an environment that speeds up the process.

Various factors affect the rate of drying following water damage to your Delta home. Our IICRC certified SERVPRO technicians control these factors by the use of drying equipment to speed up the process. Here are some of the factors that directly affect the rate of drying after water damage.

The temperature
It is perhaps the most critical of factors that affect the rate of drying. As hot air can hold more moisture compared to cold air, increasing temperature can speed up the drying process significantly. A room that is heated to 70 to 80 degrees can dry faster. That said, if the temperature is above 85 degrees, too rapid drying may cause too much moisture in the air, and it can cause secondary damage.

The amount of water to be removed
The rate and efficiency of drying are directly dependent on the amount of water that needs to be removed. The higher the amount of water that needs to be removed, the longer it takes to dry a surface material. That said, water in the liquid form is quicker to remove with the help of extractors compared to the residual moisture. SERVPRO technicians can use both extractors and dehumidifiers to speed up the drying process.

The relative humidity
The rate of drying also depends on the relative humidity (RH) of the air in contact with the surface to be dried. If the RH is over 60%, the rate of drying slows down significantly. Dehumidifiers can be used to remove the excess moisture from the air and reduce the RH to speed up the drying process.

Air movement
Another factor that affects the rate of drying is the movement of the moisture-laden air. As the surface dries, the air close to it becomes saturated with moisture, slowing down the rate of drying. Air moving equipment can replace this moisture-laden air with drier air to speed up drying.

Controlling all these factors can create an ideal condition that allows for a faster drying minimizing the effects of water damage.

Water Damage Restoration In Montrose

Save Money After a Bathroom Leak and Call SERVPRO to Mitigate Water Damage

Montrose Bathrooms Require a Stringent Post Water Leak Inspection and Cleanup

Water is a most destructive force, more damaging to homes than any other. It does not matter how the water got inside your house or how extensive the problem appears at first glance. The quicker the water damage abatement, the more successful the restoration. SERVPRO responds fast and prepared to do the tasks necessary to return your home to preloss condition.

The extent of water damage to your Montrose home after a toilet leak surprises you. Replacing the seal stops the water seeping around the base and on your bathroom floor, but the plumber suggests a call to a restoration company is the next step.

The water often pools up in hard to access areas between walls and under the subfloor. Water follows pipes and electrical lines, causing the damage to surface many feet or yards away from where the homeowner expects. Without a plan to find and remove that hidden water and dry out the wooden framing, drywall, and ceilings secondary water damage is probable. This can include deterioration of building materials, with crumbling of sheetrock, bubbling and peeling of paint, and dry rot.

Water that remains unabated for more than 24 to 48 hours puts your home at risk of mold growth. Avoiding mold is preferable to remediating it, so we work hard to start drying all affected areas. We extract any hidden water, using flexible tubing after cutting access holes or carefully punching through a bowed ceiling to release moisture. Then our crew positions air movers to dry out the structure. Dehumidifiers add to the effort, and all the while our trained technicians monitor moisture levels using state of the art probes and scanning techniques.

In the bathroom the crew extracts any water remaining around the toilet and examines the flooring, possibly pulling up a few tiles to verify the subfloor is drying out. We use air movers and dehumidifiers in the bathroom as well. When moisture falls to acceptable levels we make repairs to any areas we disturbed in our water search, ensuring everything looks “Like it never even happened.”

SERVPRO of Montrose / Telluride is your partner to restore water damage after the plumber leaves. Call (970) 240-6970 immediately after you know water is the culprit in any damage you notice in your home.
